Is your domain name good? Free domain name evaluator

This evaluator scores a domain idea for length, hyphens, numbers, and how easy it is to say. It also notes whether the extension is a familiar .com, .in, or .co.in. The number is name quality only. It does not check whether the name is free, and it does not estimate a resale price.

How does the domain name evaluator score your domain idea?

Enter the full domain, including the extension, and press Evaluate. The script scores the label and the extension, then lists each change to the score. Nothing is sent to a server. A higher score means an easier name, not a name you can register and not a trademark clearance.

In this browser
Quality only. Availability and resale price are separate checks.
  1. The score starts at 40, then adds or subtracts the rules in the table below.
  2. A leading www is ignored so the label, not the prefix, is what gets scored.
  3. The total is clamped between 0 and 100. The line items stay visible.
  4. Read the trademark and availability notes. They are not part of the number.

What factors affect domain quality (length, pronounceability, hyphens, TLD, trademark risk)?

Short labels without hyphens or digits are easier to say and to type. Vowels help people pronounce the word. A repeated character and a very long label both lower the score. The guide on how to choose a domain name walks through the same checks before you pay for a name.

FactorHow this score moves
LengthLargest boost at 4–12 characters in the label. Very long labels lose points.
HyphensEach hyphen in the label costs 14 points, up to 28.
DigitsEach digit costs 7 points, up to 21. Heard names get mistyped.
VowelsNo vowels costs 12. Enough vowels to say the word adds 8.
RepeatThe same character three times in a row costs 8.
Extension.com and .in add 12. .co.in adds 10. .net and .org add 4.
TrademarkNot scored. This is not a trademark search and not legal advice.

Should you choose a .com, .in, or niche TLD for an Indian business?

A .com and a .in are widely recognized for an Indian business, and .co.in is a common company form. A niche extension can fit when the word and the extension read as one phrase. Say the full name aloud. Confirm registry rules on the registration page, not in this score.

ExtensionHow to use it
.comFamiliar outside India. The score adds 12. It does not mean the name is free.
.inFamiliar for an Indian business. The score adds 12. Registry rules are separate.
.co.inA common company form. The score adds 10. Say the dots when you read it aloud.
NicheNo extension bonus. Keep it when the word and the extension are one phrase.

How do you check live availability and register your shortlisted domain?

When the score looks right, check domain availability before you commit to the spelling. A domain name generator can widen the shortlist if this one is taken or clumsy. For a resale figure, see how much a domain is worth. This score does not answer that.

  1. Keep the names that scored well and that you can say once on a phone call.
  2. Check whether each spelling is free. This page does not query a registry.
  3. Register a free name with a registrar. Quality is not a booking.
  4. Leave resale price on the valuation guide. Do not treat this number as a price.
