The transfer fee is the renewal year in the table, not a second charge on top. The site stays up if the nameservers do not change. Billing is in INR, and 18% GST is added on the invoice.
What does a domain transfer in India change?
A transfer changes the registrar that sponsors the name. It does not move website files, mailboxes, or DNS records. A .com follows ICANN registrar rules. A .in or .co.in name moves between registrars through NIXI, the .IN registry. You still own the name. You renew it, and you get the next auth code, at the new registrar.
Changing the owner is a different job. That is a contact update at the registrar that already holds the name, not a move to WebJi®. If you are not sure which company sponsors the name, use a Whois domain lookup and read the registrar field.
What has to be true before you start?
The registrar you are leaving refuses the move until all four of these are true.
- The registrant email still receives mail, because the approval message goes there.
- The transfer lock is off. A status such as clientTransferProhibited blocks the move until that registrar unlocks the name.
- You have the auth code, also called an EPP code, from that registrar. The registry does not email the code to you.
- The name is not expired and not already in another transfer. A .com usually cannot move in the first 60 days after registration, or within 60 days of an earlier transfer.
If the panel will not show a code, clear that hold first. Paying WebJi® does not override the registrar you are leaving.
How do you transfer a domain to WebJi®?
Do the steps in this order. The hands-on time is about ten minutes, spread across the week. Labels in the old panel differ by company. A longer click path is how to move a domain to a new registrar.
- Check the email — confirm the registrant address in the current panel is one you can open this week.
- Unlock — turn the registrar lock off.
- Copy the auth code — take it from the security or transfer screen. If the button is missing, ask that registrar to send it.
- Ask WebJi® to start it — email the domain and the code to support@webji.services. Pay only after the reply states the INR figure for the extra year.
- Approve — open the message from the registrar you are leaving, and approve inside the time they give.
- Check the result — when the name appears in the WebJi® panel, check the expiry date, the nameservers, and the lock. Then set a new auth code.
How long does a .com or .in transfer take?
The clock starts after you approve the email and the new registrar submits the request. It does not start while the lock is on or the code is missing.
| Extension | Who completes it | Usual time after approval |
|---|---|---|
| .com and other gTLDs | The two registrars, under ICANN rules | 5–7 days |
| .in and .co.in | The new registrar, through NIXI | About 5 days |
You know it worked when the WebJi® panel lists the name, the expiry includes the extra year, and a public lookup shows the new registrar. Some losing registrars release sooner if they approve early.
What do you pay for a domain transfer?
You pay for one extra year. That year is the renewal, not a second fee on top of renewal. The table is the yearly band already printed for planning, before 18% GST. Email support@webji.services with the domain. WebJi® confirms the rupee figure before you pay.
| TLD | Indicative registration (₹/yr) | Indicative renewal (₹/yr) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| .com | ₹900–1,200 | ₹1,000–1,400 | Universal default |
| .in | ₹500–800 | ₹700–1,000 | Indian businesses |
| .co.in | ₹500–900 | ₹800–1,100 | Indian brands/enterprises |
| .xyz / .online | ₹150–500 first yr | ₹800–1,400 | Launches, offers |
| .ai | ₹6,000–8,000* | ₹6,500–8,500* | AI startups (2-yr min) |
| .io | ₹2,800–3,800 | ₹3,200–4,200 | Tech/product companies |
Indicative yearly bands in INR, before 18% GST, read on 29 October 2026. A transfer is priced from the renewal column, as one extra year. The exact figure is confirmed by email before you pay.
A name you do not own yet is domain registration in India, not a transfer. The .xyz and .online registration cell is a first-year band. The .ai row is a two-year minimum. Do not use either cell as the transfer price. An extension that is not listed is quoted by email before you pay.
Will the website or email go offline?
The website and email stay online if the nameservers and DNS records stay as they are. The transfer changes the registrar, not the host. Mail keeps the same MX records.
The site can fail if the name expires, or if someone edits nameservers during the wait. Leave DNS alone until the name is in the new panel and you have checked each record.
Moving the website files is a different job. Website migration is free only when it is approved, and it is subject to terms. It does not come automatically with a domain transfer. Keep the old host online until that copy is checked.
What do you get after the name arrives at WebJi®?
This is for a person or company that already owns the name at another registrar. It is not a new registration, and it is not a hosting plan.
After the name arrives you get DNS management, email forwarding, and a registrar lock you can turn back on. Set a new auth code the same day so the old code stops working. WHOIS privacy is included on gTLDs such as .com where the registry allows it.
Some country-code registries publish the owner by policy, and that includes some .in names. That limit is stated before you pay. Renewal reminders go out in Hindi or English. You can pay the quoted amount by UPI, card, or net-banking.
Support is 24/7 email at support@webji.services, in Hindi and English, and the average first reply is under 60 minutes. Do not use the office phone as a support line.
WebJi® has been in business since 2005 and has 12,000+ clients, about 99% of them served online across India and overseas. The only registered office is in Jaipur. There is no walk-in branch in any other city.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I transfer my domain to WebJi®?
Unlock the name at the current registrar, copy the auth code, and email the domain and the code to support@webji.services. Approve the message that registrar sends. Pay the quoted extra year only after the INR figure is in the reply. When the name shows in your WebJi® panel, check the expiry, the nameservers, and the lock.
How long does a domain transfer take in India?
A .com usually completes in 5 to 7 days after you approve the email. A .in or .co.in name usually completes in about five days after the new registrar submits it. The clock does not start while the lock is still on or the auth code is missing. It is not a same-day switch.
What is an EPP code and where do I get it?
The EPP code, also called an auth code, is the password the current registrar issues for that name. Open their domain security or transfer screen, or ask them to send it to the registrant email. For a .in name the code is typically 6 to 16 characters. NIXI does not send it to you, and WebJi® cannot see it until you provide it.
Will my website go down during a domain transfer?
The website and email stay online if the nameservers and DNS records stay as they are. The transfer changes the registrar, not the host. The site can fail if the name expires, or if someone edits nameservers during the wait. Leave DNS alone until the name is in the new panel.
Can I transfer a domain before 60 days?
A .com name usually cannot move within 60 days of registration, or within 60 days of a previous transfer. Wait until that window ends, then request the auth code. For .in and .co.in, use the current panel as the test. If it will not issue a code, the name is not ready.
How much does it cost to transfer a domain?
You pay for one extra year. That is the renewal, not a second fee on top. Printed registration bands before 18% GST are .com ₹900–1,200, .in ₹500–800, and .co.in ₹500–900 a year. The renewal column is .com ₹1,000–1,400, .in ₹700–1,000, and .co.in ₹800–1,100. The exact figure is emailed before you pay, and 18% GST is added on the invoice.
Is WHOIS privacy included on a transferred domain?
Yes, where the registry allows it. Most gTLDs such as .com include WHOIS privacy at WebJi®. Some country-code registries publish the owner by policy, and that includes some .in names. That limit is stated before you pay.
