What are the types of web hosting?
WebJi® sells shared hosting for a first site, a VPS when you need root, cloud hosting sized by CPU, memory and disk, and a dedicated server on one physical machine. WordPress hosting is prepared for WordPress. Reseller and Windows hosting sit beside those. Each price is on its own page, in INR, and 18% GST is added on the invoice.
- Shared hosting for a first site, with no root.
- A VPS when you need your own operating system.
- Cloud hosting sized by CPU, memory, and disk.
- A dedicated server on one physical machine.
- WordPress, reseller, and Windows as purpose-built plans beside those.
What is shared hosting?
Shared hosting puts many sites on one server and caps each account. It fits a first site, a brochure, or a small shop with no need for root. On WebJi® the panel is ControlPanel.Systems. Shared hosting does not include cPanel, and it is not sold as LiteSpeed. Need root or a fixed memory allotment? This is the wrong type.
Prices for this row are on WebJi shared hosting, in INR, and 18% GST is added on the invoice. The panel name on that product is ControlPanel.Systems. Do not expect cPanel there, and do not expect LiteSpeed to be part of the offer.
What is VPS hosting?
A VPS is a virtual server with its own operating system and root access. You choose the stack, the firewall, and the accounts, and you patch them. It fits a site that outgrew shared limits or software a shared image will not run. How that compares with shared hosting is a separate article. This section only defines the type.
The product page is WebJi VPS hosting. Whether you should leave a shared account is covered in shared hosting versus a VPS. This section does not repeat that comparison, and it does not invent a VPS rupee price.
What is cloud hosting?
Cloud hosting at WebJi® is capacity sized by CPU, memory, and disk, not a shared account's ceiling. The server is still virtual. It fits a workload that should leave shared hosting, and someone still has to administer it. It is not a different kind of physics from a VPS. The size is quoted on the cloud hosting page.
A sized build is quoted on WebJi cloud hosting. You still patch the operating system unless the plan you bought says otherwise. Cloud here means CPU, memory, and disk, not a second copy of shared hosting.
What is a dedicated server?
A dedicated server is one physical machine for one customer. No other site runs on that operating system. You get the disks, CPU, and fault domain, and you pay for quiet weeks too. It fits a large shop, a compliance rule, or a job that must not share a kernel. Weigh it against a VPS before you skip ahead.
One physical machine is WebJi dedicated servers. The decision against stepping straight there from a VPS is a VPS versus a dedicated server. Read the price on that product page rather than guessing from a shared plan.
How do WordPress, reseller, and Windows hosting differ?
WordPress hosting is an image prepared for WordPress. Reseller hosting lets you sell accounts to your own customers. Windows hosting is for ASP.NET, IIS, and MS SQL, and it uses Plesk. Do not place a .NET site on the Linux shared plans. Do not buy Windows hosting for a PHP site that runs on Linux.
Use WebJi WordPress hosting when the site is WordPress and you want that image. Use WebJi reseller hosting when you will sell accounts onward. Use WebJi Windows hosting for ASP.NET, IIS, and MS SQL with Plesk. Linux shared plans do not run that Microsoft stack.
Which type fits a new site, a shop, an app?
A new brochure or blog fits shared hosting. A shop can start there and move to a VPS if the database fights neighbours. An app that needs root or a chosen size fits a VPS or cloud hosting. One physical machine fits a dedicated server. Use WordPress hosting for WordPress, and Windows hosting only for the Microsoft stack.
| Job | Start with | Move when |
|---|---|---|
| New brochure or blog | Shared hosting | You need root or the account caps bind |
| Small shop | Shared hosting | The database contends with neighbours |
| App with its own process | VPS or cloud hosting | You need the whole physical machine |
| WordPress as the product | WordPress hosting | You outgrow that image |
| .NET or MS SQL | Windows hosting | You need Remote Desktop or more CPU |
How do these hosting types compare?
Compare types by who shares the machine, whether you get root, and which panel you receive. Shared hosting means ControlPanel.Systems. A VPS or dedicated server gives you the operating system. Cloud hosting is the sized virtual machine. WordPress, reseller, and Windows plans are separate products. Read each product page for its price before treating two names as one plan.
| Type | Who shares | Root | What you actually get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shared | Many accounts | No | ControlPanel.Systems, not cPanel |
| VPS | Hardware only | Yes | Your operating system |
| Cloud | Hardware only | Yes, unless a managed note says otherwise | Size by CPU, memory, and disk |
| Dedicated | Nobody else | Yes | One physical machine |
| WordPress | Depends on that plan | See that page | An image prepared for WordPress |
| Reseller | Your customers | Reseller tools | Accounts you sell on |
| Windows | Other Windows accounts, on shared | No on shared | Plesk, IIS, and MS SQL |
