How often a VPS backup should run

How a VPS restore differs from a snapshot
Restore replaces the server with the chosen copy. Changes after that copy are gone, so read the time on the copy before you start. A snapshot left on the same host is not a substitute: when the host is lost, the snapshot is lost with it. The remote rows exist so the copy is still there.
