How much RAM and CPU does a website need?

A site needs enough RAM for the database and for every uncached request running at once, plus CPU for that work. WebJi's VPS page, read on 29 October 2026, shows KVM samples at 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB. Those are planning shapes. The quote stays on that page. Match a sample to concurrency, not to a visitor slogan.

What do vCPU cores and dedicated RAM actually do on a KVM VPS?

A vCPU is a scheduled share of a physical core. KVM RAM is memory the guest uses without borrowing a neighbour, unlike shared hosting. WebJi's VPS describes KVM with vCPU, RAM, NVMe, and root access, on Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, or Windows Server 2022. cPanel or Plesk is optional. CPU and RAM show first under uncached PHP or a database queue.

VPS-Growth4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM120 GB NVMe, 4 TB transfer

Rupee amounts are not copied here. Read the current quote on VPS hosting. The page also says the final spec is quoted, so treat the table as the published samples, not as a promise that every custom size matches a row.

How much RAM do you need for WordPress, WooCommerce, Magento, or Node.js?

No software name has one RAM figure. Blogs, brochures, and staging map to 4 GB. WooCommerce and growing apps map to 8 GB. High traffic or a small SaaS deploy maps to 16 GB. Magento and Node.js have no separate row. Small Node can fit Start. Heavy checkout is closer to Growth or Pro. Between samples, ask for a quote.

WorkloadPublished sample to start fromWhy it might move up
WordPress brochure, blog, or stagingVPS-Start, 4 GBMany plugins, or no page cache, during a busy hour
WooCommerce or a growing PHP appVPS-Growth, 8 GBUncached checkout and a large product set at the same time
High traffic or several appsVPS-Pro, 16 GBThe database cache plus the app no longer fit the 8 GB sample
Magento or Node.jsNo separate published rowMatch Growth or Pro from real concurrency, or ask for a quote

How do concurrent visitors, PHP workers, and MySQL buffers impact RAM usage?

A cached page costs little RAM. An uncached PHP request holds a worker and its memory until it finishes. MySQL wants a resident buffer pool instead of rereading rows from disk. Ten checkouts at once cost more than ten cached views. When RAM is exceeded, the guest swaps or kills a process. Count the overlapping uncached work.

  • Count overlapping uncached requests, not the daily total of visits.
  • Give MySQL a buffer pool that fits in RAM with the workers, not a pool copied from a larger server.
  • A page cache reduces how often a worker is needed. It does not shrink the database.
  • Raising PHP's memory ceiling inside one script does not add RAM the guest does not have.

What are the warning signs that your VPS is swapping and needs a RAM upgrade?

Daytime swap, not a boot blip, means the guest is short of RAM. Out-of-memory lines mean the kernel killed a process. First-byte time that rises at peak, with CPU not the whole story, often means paging or refused database work. Shared hosting shows the squeeze as an entry-process or memory fault. Resize or move. A retry hides the fault.

  1. Check swap and RAM at the same hour the site feels slow.
  2. Read the system log for out-of-memory events around that hour.
  3. See whether the slow requests are uncached PHP or database work.
  4. Move up a sample, or off shared hosting, when that pattern repeats. Do not only raise a PHP limit.

If the ceiling you are hitting is still a shared account, the move itself is described in moving a site from shared hosting to a VPS.

Which WebJi VPS plan matches each traffic and application tier?

Samples, not a price table. VPS-Start is 2 vCPU and 4 GB for a blog, brochure, or staging. VPS-Growth is 4 vCPU and 8 GB for WooCommerce or a growing app. VPS-Pro is 8 vCPU and 16 GB for higher traffic or a small SaaS deploy. Anything else is a custom quote. A packaged cloud server is a different product.

Cloud sizes and their quotes are on cloud hosting. Do not add the VPS samples and the cloud price into one bill in your head. They are different pages because they are different products.
